Once upon a time, two young brothers wanted to join 4H. Jake and Zayne already had and loved pet chickens, so poultry was the logical direction in which to proceed.
Not knowing exactly what they wanted to do, they teamed up and bought their first show trio. Together they shared these birds, plus a few additional birds, and life was peaceful -- for a while.
But, as time went on and knowledge grew, so did opinions, then disagreements began. Likes and dislikes formed differently within each child. Fights broke out over whose birds were whose; what pair they would purchase next; whose chicks were sold; whose chickens had won; and whose money was whose. Team work faded.
While the brothers both love their poultry, and continued to to do chores together, a seperation must be made! Still, how could they keep interests seperate yet share their love of chickens? So Mom got involved; the "peacemaker" came up with a solution.
Each brother would chose different breeds to specialize in. Now, with a division of personalities and breeds, each child focuses on his preferred varieties using his own plans and ideas. Instead of competing against each other, they cheer the other on! And with independent thinking, but the strong bond only two brothers can know, they have put together a wonderful diversity of breeds, from America’s favorite, most popular chicken, the Buff Orpington, to the almost extinct, endangered varieties of Nankins and White Orpingtons.
But, how to share a farm, and a business, while maintaining some autonomy? Mom to the rescue once again with a great business name:
My Brothers Peeps
With the right name, the brothers could continue to work together. So My Brothers Peeps was founded. Whenever a child hands out a business card, both are represented. Each brother would not be selling personal birds, but My Brothers Peeps.
From the tiniest to the biggest. From the thinnest to the thickest. They strive for the Standard of Perfection with all they raise. While they focus on showbirds, they offer eggs, chicks and trio’s to the public. To be placed on a waiting list, please contact Mom.
Now the Brothers and Mom welcome you here to read more about My Brothers Peeps. Each brother will share with you what is offered. And each brother is happy to work with you to accomplish a perfect pairing between your personality and the use of birds that fit your lifestyle best.
We also look forward to visiting with you at the Poultry shows. Watch for our schedule for 2012 as it shapes up.
Our family would like to take a moment to thank the important people in our lives that have helped us rise to the level and quality of birds that we now raise! Lacey, Pam, Daria, Steve, Don, Theresa and Russell. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, your encouragement, your peer pressure, and your insistence that we do things correctly!
